Prof. Patrick Lutzjlutz [at] stlawu [dot] edu
Patrick was born and raised in Michigan. He received an ACS-Certified B.S. in Chemistry in 2012 from Hope College, where he performed research with Prof. Jeffrey B. Johnson. He earned his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 2017 from Princeton University, working with Prof. Abigail Doyle on developing Ni-catalyzed methods for amine synthesis. His postdoctoral research took him back to the Land Shaped Like a Hand, where he worked on developing new degradable polymers in the lab of Prof. Anne McNeil and taught two undergraduate courses in the University of Michigan Chemistry department. He next spent two years as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Oberlin College, teaching courses in organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and spectroscopy. In Fall 2022, he started as an Assistant Professor at St. Lawrence University, where he teaches organic and general chemistry and conducts polymer-focused research with undergraduates.
